The Falcon 4400 Series is an ergonomic mobile computer designed for warehouse, distribution center, and retail in-store environments. This portable mobile computer balances ergonomics and ruggedness with configuration flexibility.

Mobile computing features of the Falcon 4400 Series mobile computer include the Windows CE or Windows Mobile operating systems, IEEE 802.11b/g wireless local area networking, and an Intel XScale microprocessor. Out-of-the-box, the Falcon 4400 Series mobile computer offers a variety of Microsoft applications specific to the chosen operating system. Windows Mobile includes the Microsoft Office Mobile package while Windows CE includes Microsoft WordPad, Excel Viewer, and Internet Explorer.

Both operating systems provide developers with flexibility for application development. A Developer's tool for Windows Mobile, Visual Studio 2005 is available. Available developer's tools for Windows CE include eMbedded Visual C++, Visual C# .NET, Visual Basic .NET, Personal Java 1.1, Java Virtual Machine (JVM), and Falcon® CE Developers Toolkit. Ease of development is coupled with the Falcon Desktop Utility (FDU) and Falcon Management Utility (FMU) for effortless fleet deployment and management. In addition, many PSC resellers and VAR's offer a variety of vertically oriented development tools for the Falcon 4400 Series mobile computer. These include Wavelink® Studio and a broad selection of terminal emulators for VT100/220, IBM 3270, IBM 5250, and HP700/92 applications, minimizing the need for infrastructure upgrades.

Industry leading ergonomics make using the Falcon 4400 Series mobile computer effortless and efficient for the user. With a weight under 24 oz / 680 g, superb balance, and an arched grip to fit the contour of the user's hand, the Falcon 4400 Series mobile computer is excellent for scan intensive applications. A 3.5" QVGA color display maximizes the viewable area, increasing productivity by reducing the need for user scrolling while providing visibility in a wide range of ambient lighting conditions. A high capacity Lithium Ion battery allows the Falcon 4400 Series mobile computer to execute a full workday without a break. The loudest beeper on the market, 86dBA at 24"/61 cm, provides audible feedback in noisy operating environments.

This versatile mobile computer is available in a 26-key alphanumeric keypad for numeric data entry. Other options include a 48-key, 52-key and 52-key 'Numbers Up' full alpha keypads for numeric and text entry. All three full alphanumeric keyboards are available with 5250 Terminal Emulation keypad overlays. The 52-key is available with a numbers up configuration. A wide variety of scanning options allow for application specific solutions. Laser engine options include standard range, long range, and advanced long range; imager options include linear, standard 2D, and high-density 2D.

The ruggedness of the Falcon 4400 Series mobile computer allows this unit to endure the most demanding data collection tasks in commercial and industrial environments. The high-strength polycarbonate/ ABS-blend plastic enclosure with thermoplastic urethane overmold survives repeated drops to concrete from 5.0" / 1.5 M. An IP54 environmental rating prevents potential damage from moisture and dust.

The wide variety of accessories for the Falcon 4400 Series mobile computer include charging cradles, battery charger, softcases, holsters, a serial printer adapter, various cables and other accessories. Among these, the Powered Vehicle Dock has dual RS-232 serial ports to power accessories like the PowerScan® handheld scanner or a serial printer.
